USA Football Governor’s Cup

For the second consecutive year, the Wharton Sports Business Initiative assisted USA Football with data analysis for the annual “Governor’s Cup” national ranking initiative. The Governor's Cup recognizes the top U.S. football state on a per capita basis. The award measures, among other variables, high school football participation; fan interest in college and professional football; and the percentage of Division I-A recruits and NFL players from each state. In 2006, Mississippi was awarded the winning ranking. USA Football will present this year’s award to the winning state's governor in October 2008.
