Field Generals

The Field Generals (TFG) is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization founded by former NFL Quarterbacks.  The goal of TFG is to consolidate and manage the involvement of current and emerging NFL Quarterbacks in a program designed to provide middle and high schools student athletes with leadership and standardized test taking training.  In this Sports Business Consulting Practicum, students worked hand-in-hand with legendary NFL Quarterbacks, lead by Warren Moon, and Director of the Wharton Sports Business Initiative, Professor Kenneth L. Shropshire.

Students gained significant, hands-on experience in this project as they sought to identify and develop business plans around the goal of TFG.  During the semester students participated in meetings with TFG President, Warren Moon and Vice President of Business Development, Jeff Buchanan.  Students identified new business ideas, with each concept having the potential for at least $1.5 MM in revenue in year one.  Each plan contained a road map for year over year revenue growth.  In the first part of the project, students prepared three preliminary concept summaries and presented to TFG at mid-semester.  These summaries contained an overview of each concept, and contained preliminary due diligence and preliminary financial and strategic analyses.  TFG then selected one of these concepts for further study and evaluation.  The end goal of this project was for the students to prepare fully developed business plans for the selected concept, which included a review of the relevant industry landscapes, strategic assessments and recommendations for the organization.  The students presented these business plans to TFG at the end of the semester.
