Exploring Race, Sports, and Leadership

The Center for Africana Studies and the Wharton Sports Analytics and Business Initiative (WSABI) hosted their annual Race & Sports event on April 23 at 5:30 p.m. in Jon M. Huntsman Hall, Room 350.

The program featured Olympic 400-meter runner Butch Reynolds, who competed in the 1988 and 1996 Games, in conversation with Kenneth Shropshire, David W. Hauck Professor Emeritus of Legal Studies and Business Ethics and Professor Emeritus of Africana Studies. Together, they explored the intersections of race, sport, leadership, and legacy at the highest levels of competition.

The event was open to all. From students studying sports management to professionals in the industry and advocates for equity in athletics, the conversation resonated with a diverse and engaged audience.
